I don't want to spend time and explaining the project in detail. I just want to point out that this is exactly the essence of what Patagonia is preaching the whole time: if you want a sustainable world, stop exploitation!
There are many reasons for the proposed resort and it would be easy for any MBA student to make it "sound nice". But in the end, it's once again the exploitation of the nature. We take something, use it until it is broken and then throw it away and take the next thing, without even thinking of the consequences.
Yes, it would (probably) be profitable. But is this really the most important thing right now? Is a country like the USA really in need of another business based on exploitation of the environment? Can money really outweight public interests, biodiversity and environmental preservation? Should it?
There are a lot of things we should think about very carefully...
