Here you can find a nice introduction about the ISO 1401 certification:

In my opinion, the ISO 1401 certifications is a well structured way to evaluate the impact of the companies on the environment. Furthermore, it seems that the certification can cover several industries, allowing the comparison of companies within the same or different industries.
Currently, this certification is voluntary. However, I think that the governments, as regulators, shall push the companies to implement it. This will allow to have a better overview about the environmental performance and impact of a company.
Looking forward to discussing this tomorrow Ricardo. I would very much like to discuss how the ISO standards around sustainability and responsible business interact with other sustainability reporting initiatives.
