It is really great to see that Africa is also taking action on this front. It's been said that Africa will be unable to continue or emulate the industrial activities of the developed countries because of the negative contribution these active have had on society. The only way Africa will grow is if they focus on activities that will lessen the negative impact on society, they have the potential on being leaders in this path of greening initiatives.

Hi Masi,
ReplyDeleteAfrica can grow and will grow. However one thing is that if we want to follow the Western model, we have to learn from its mistakes and avoid them, this will take us far ahead:second mover advantage. Or else, we can our own model and follow. When we learn from other countries and we want to adjust and apply back in our countries we face rocks and steels and we eventually give up! Hopefully waste will smoothen that with time so that we can handle.
I fully agree with both of you, however, I have some concern when it comes to industrial development. I know solar energy is environment friendly, however, so far the it is extremely difficult to use for gigantic industrial plan and nuclear energy too is not available option to use due to restriction with that being said, yes Africa can take its development on a sustainable path but with few option. That is just to name few of the restriction. Add to that, we still need a lot of technological development.
